This re-creation is from Caravan Classic’s signature "Old Ningxia" collection. It features a classically proportioned design, probably dating from the late 18th to the early 19th century. It has a prominent central fret medallion with matching corner spandrels in two shades of blue. (Similar fretwork first appeared many centuries earlier in Chinese bronzes). The main outer border picks up this motif, but in a diagonal weave. These geometric elements are the perfect counterpoint for the curvilinear lines in the field’s remaining floral section, which the small inner border echoes.
